Hi everyone,
I spoke with Albert today and he had some encouraging news. He said that they are now putting Carmen in a kind of "lazy boy" chair during the day where she is propped up at a 30% angle or so. Right now, Carmen is very active at night and sleeps a lot during the day. Putting her in the chair will help keep her awake during the day as well as get in a routine of getting out of bed each day. Bert also mentioned that today Carmen said "no" and "ouch." He was pretty excited about this. This may seem like no big deal, but it's important to celebrate these little milestones as Carmen begins her road to recovery. Doing so will obviously encourage all of us but most importantly, Carmen will feel and sense our encouragement and positive energy. I don't know about you guys, but every story I have heard about people making great recoveries from situations like Carmen all had the same things in common: A strong support group and constant love and positive encouragement. I am so happy to see that Carmen has these things in a HUGE way!
Carmen still has some big hurdles in front of her though and it's important that we keep the prayers going for those. The first one is whether or not to give Carmen the Heparin, which is the blood thinner medication. (Scroll down a couple of posts if you're just checking in for what I'm talking about) This is a very big deal since there are potential consequences if she does get the medication and consequences if she doesn't.
Let's keep those prayers going friends. Prayers that the correct decision is made regarding the medication, prayers that Carmen continues to make take those little steps forward, and prayers for Albert, Jodi and the family.
